Education in Southeast Georgia
 Higher education is readily available in the Southeast Georgia region. A four-year college at Brunswick and a two-year college at Waycross—the College of Coastal Georgia and Waycross College—as well as extension campuses of Brenau University, Troy University, Valdosta State University, Armstrong Atlantic University and Georgia Southern University, ensure that residents can obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees without leaving the area. Technical training is also readily available through Altamaha Technical College and Okefenokee Technical College. Additionally, colleges and universities in Savannah, GA and Jacksonville, FL are in close proximity.
 The newly named College of Coastal Georgia, a state college of the University System of Georgia, began preparation to offer baccalaureate degrees in education, business, and nursing, beginning fall 2009. Pre-baccalaureate degree programs are also available for transfer, as well as lifelong learning, participation in economic development within the College service area, and partnerships with K-12 schools. Through locations in Glynn and Camden counties, the College of Coastal Georgia offers an outstanding array of opportunities for young professionals, traditional students and adult learners. The College of Coastal Georgia offers several other options for getting a Bachelor's or Master's degree right here in Southeast Georgia. |
 Waycross College, a two-year unit of the University System of Georgia located in Waycross, GA, provides programs of higher education for citizens of the immediate and surrounding communities. The College's philosophy is to provide opportunities for those who need special preparation for regular college-level courses, while giving well-prepared students immediate access to transfer courses that can be applied toward advanced study appropriate to their academic goals. |
 Armstrong Atlantic State University, located in Savannah, GA, is an institution with a rich tapestry of academic offerings in the arts and sciences, education, and the health professions, offering more than 75 high quality undergraduate and graduate academic programs.

 By contract with the U.S. Navy, Brenau University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business administration at the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in St. Marys, GA. Classes are open to military personnel as well as area civilians. Graduate degree programs in education offered in South Georgia are also administered through the Kings Bay office. |
 Located in Statesboro, Georgia Southern University’s classification as a national doctoral-research institution by the Carnegie Foundation positions it as the only such university south of Atlanta until well into Florida. With a main campus in Savannah, GA, Georgia Southern also maintains a collaboration with the College of Coastal Georgia to offer degree programs at the University Center in Brunswick, GA.

 The Brunswick, GA, site of Troy University serves the areas of Coastal and Southeast Georgia, with branches reaching into Camden County where Kings Bay is located and to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynn County.  Altamaha Technical College’s primary mission is to serve as one of the key components of a regional economic development engine, offering training and educational opportunities in programs of study (associate degrees, certificates and diplomas) that lead its graduates to good jobs, and providing customized training specifically designed for the business and industrial community. With the recent transfer of technical education programs from the College of Coastal Georgia, Altamaha Technical College, based in Jesup, GA, expands its service delivery area to include Camden, Glynn and McIntosh counties. The college already serves Appling, Jeff Davis, Long and Wayne counties. |
 Okefenokee Technical College provides high quality technical education, training, and student support services to serve the workforce needs of its six-county service area in Southeast Georgia. Okefenokee Technical College’s service area includes Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Pierce, and Ware counties. The main campus is in Waycross, with a branch campus in Bacon County; off-campus sites in the remaining four counties provide direct services to citizens through a wide variety of programs and services that support workforce development. |
