The Southeast Georgia region is a mecca of national and international trade with its own deepwater port at Brunswick (and access to ports at Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL) and an intermodal transportation system linking businesses with markets throughout the world. The area’s infrastructure allows for goods to be moved quickly and efficiently throughout the U.S. and the world by air, ground, rail and shipping channels. Some of the main attractions for businesses that locate in the region are proximity to the international airports in Savannah, GA, Brunswick, GA, and Jacksonville, FL, the ports of Savannah and Brunswick, interstate highway access, and two Class I (CSX & Norfolk Southern) and two short line rail systems. The transportation links of the ports and I-95 have been critical to the region’s economic growth, and will remain so. Access to I-95 alone puts locally produced goods within 300 miles or less of markets including Atlanta, GA; Charleston, SC; Savannah, GA; Jacksonville, FL; and Orlando, FL.
